The Deep End

2001

Starring: Tilda Swinton, Goran Visnjic and Jonathan Tucker

I’m not sure what to think about The Deep End.

You have a mother that is pretty much raising three kids on her own because her husband is out to sea most of the time. The older son is 17 and starting to get involved in things and hanging with people that perhaps he shouldn’t.

Mom (Tilda Swinton) tries to put a stop to it by talking to her sons friend, thinking she is doing the right thing. Everything pretty much snowballs from there on out.

Soon she is finding her self dealing with a blackmailer (Goran Visnjic) that keeps showing up at her house which leads her oldest son to believe she’s having an affair.

Tilda Swinton plays a great stressed out mother of three. As for Goran Visnjic, he’s played this type of character before and it suits him well. I remember him in Practical Magic, the movie was somewhat cheesy but his character was great and he was the perfect person to play it.

Anyway, I was going to include a trailer but I can’t find one that isn’t all choppy and dark.

If you’ve seen this movie drop me a line or two and tell me what you thought!
