Starring: Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Ellen Page

Magnificent movie. If I had twelve thumbs I’d put them all up. Excellent choices in casting as well. I can see how it got nominated for 8 Oscars and many many other awards.

Now I wish I had seen this on the big screen instead of my crappy 90s era 27″ TV. I am sure it was much better, sound quality and such, in the theater. I have to say, I did have it rather loud… pretty cool sounds.

Starring: Al Pacino, Robin Williams, Hilary Swank

Al Pacino and Robin Williams work great together. Hilary Swank… well, I could do without her and her mouthful of teeth.

They couldn’t have cast a better actor than Robin Williams to play Walter Finch. He was excellent. And Al Pacino (Will Dormer) always makes the excellent cop with the – not a crooked cop but could be a crooked cop – way about him.

There is one scene where I completely held me breath, I was so in to the movie that I didn’t breath until the characters breathed.

OK, no spoilers!

Here is the trailer:

The Machinist

Starring: Christian Bale, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Aitana Sánchez-Gijón

This movie was unbelievable!

Trevor Reznik (Christian Bale) is grotesquely thin and begins to look visibly worse as the movies plays on, as his character has not slept in a year. He is questioned about drug use, then starts seeing people that may or may not be there which makes people even more suspicious about drugs.

And then there are the random post-it notes on the refrigerator…

The Machinist = Holy Freakin’ Wow!

Starring: Angelina Jolie, Liev Schreiber and Chiwetel Ejiofor

Seriously disappointed in this movie. I waited for what seemed like forever for this to come to dvd, and when it arrived I was so excited. And then I watched it. Ugh.

I don’t think this was a movie for Jolie, I think someone else should have played the part. She’s too strong of an actor for such a crappy movie. And let’s refrain from the blonde hair again, Oy vey!

Assassination of a High School President

Starring: Mishca Barton, Reece Thompson, Bruce Willis

Rated R for a reason. What I thought was a teenager movie, really isn’t. There is lots of nakedness. I failed to see the ‘R’ rating. Since I’m older than dirt, it’s OK.

I’ve never heard of Reece Thompson, he kinda reminds me of a really young Tom Cruise. Like in his puberty years and WAY before that Scientology crap.

The ‘movie people’ put this under Comedy as well as Mystery and Crime… I guess since I laughed like once, maybe twice if you really stretch it, then you could call it a comedy. But we’re talking a fine line here.

Assassination was pretty good for what it was, had me guessing ‘who dunnit’ until the end.

A Perfect Getaway

Starring: Steve Zahn, Milla Jovovich, Timothy Olyphant
Steve Zahn, always the goofball, played an excellent lead in this movie. I was surprised that he was able to pull it off.

I knew this was a Thriller when I started watching and but it wasn’t what I expected. I thought I had it figured out once but clearly I was wrong.

This was definitely a good movie. Kudos to Steve Zahn for showing us his serious side. And to Milla Jovovich for not making me want to vomit for her lack of acting skills (no counting The Fifth Element).
