The Fighter

2010

Starring: Mark Wahlberg, Christian Bale and Amy Adams

Great movie, even though I find boxing about as entertaining as watching the grass grow. It was the rest of the story that kept me tuned in to the movie.
I know this was based on a true story but I don’t know if it was ‘loosely’ based or not.

Christian Bale is starting to freak me out the way he can skinny down to the size of a major anorexic and plump back up to normal at will. Have you seen The Machinist? Friggin’ weird! Dude is so thin it’s gross.

Anyway, Marky Mark is a bitchin’ little boxer the way he gets in there and kicks a little ass. All with the love and support of his woman, Charlene (Amy Adams).

Oh, and let’s not forget that white trash family of his. What the hell is up with all them sisters livin’ at home at their age? Maybe it’s the fact they all look like they fell out the ugly tree hittin’ every damned branch on the way down!

GADS! That mom!! I just wanted to slap her ho-bag ass back to her couch. If my mom dressed like that I would most certainly be havin’ a sit down with her.

Anyways… the movie is definitely worth watching. I enjoyed it, minus the skanky mom.

I give it four paws up!

The Other Guys

2010

Starring: Will Ferrell, Mark Wahlberg and Derek Jeter

For me, this movie was awful. The only humor I found was when Will Ferrell was hit by a golf ball or being beat up by a woman, other than that the explosions were the only things that kept me watching.

Samuel L. Jackson and The Rock made an appearance in the beginning and fooled me into thinking the movie had promise (OK, SLJ did) but then they came off like a bunch of duh-heads you’d find on muscle beach. All flash and no bang.

Mark, Mark, Mark… After this you may have to get that Funky Bunch back together. Yikes! First, what the hell is up with that crappy hair color? Seriously, who picked that?!  And second, how could you stoop to be in a movie with Will Ferrell? You can’t be that hard up for work, are you?

And I have just got to know, how many face lifts has Michael Keaton had? His face looks… not right. He’s also looking just a bit pasty, not a good look for him.

Anyway, if you like Will Ferrell (gag, choke, hurl) then you will probably enjoy this movie. I did my best to ignore the fact that it was him. Fail.

Let me know what you think!
