The Five-Year Engagement

(2012)

Starring: Jason Segel, Emily Blunt and Chris Pratt

The Five-Year Engagement… I don’t know what I was thinking when I started watching this movie. I can’t stand Jason Segel, he’s just not funny. At all. And spending approximately 124 min watching him whine was torture. I wanted to reach into the TV and punch him in the back of the head.

I suppose this movie would have been more fun if they would have chose a different leading man, say… ANYBODY ELSE. There’s a great storyline and the other actors are wonderful. There weren’t even any face palm worthy lines. That’s a major bonus.

Anyway, if you can get past Mr. Segel and his unfunniness then you’ve got a decent movie. For me, it was a toughy.

Casino Jack

2010

Starring: Kevin Spacey, Barry Pepper and Jon Lovitz

I have to admit, I was expecting more from this film. I was seriously bored to tears watching this.

I’ve watched “the politician has screwed the little guy” type films before and my attention never wavered. Watching Casino Jack was like getting teeth pulled without anesthetic at the speed of grass growth.

Now, that being said… A stellar performance by Kevin Spacey. The man never lets you down.

Barry Pepper. What can I say, he looks like a sleazy politician or someone that needs to find his way back to the 70s and his one piece zip-front polyester lounge suit. If his character was made to be hated then they accomplished the goal. GADS! I wanted to smack his face off his slimy head.

Anyway, you can like it or you can hate it. I’m giving it a steaming pile of poo rating.

RED

2010

Starring: Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren, Mary-Louise Parker

AWESOME movie! For me, this would be a movie to buy. Yes, I would pay $24.95 to own this movie.

If you haven’t seen it, watch it! If you  have… well… awesome! Am I right or am I right?!

I want to say so  much about this movie but I totally don’t want to spoil it for those of you that haven’t seen it.

Here, I’m posting the trailer… now you don’t eve have to run to youtube.

Now go rent the movie!!

Salt

2010

Starring: Angelina Jolie, Liev Schreiber and Chiwetel Ejiofor

Seriously disappointed in this movie. I waited for what seemed like forever for this to come to dvd, and when it arrived I was so excited. And then I watched it. Ugh.

I don’t think this was a movie for Jolie, I think someone else should have played the part. She’s too strong of an actor for such a crappy movie. And let’s refrain from the blonde hair again, Oy vey!

The Guilty

2000

Starring: Bill Pullman, Devon Sawa and Gabrielle Anwar

This turned out to be a better movie than I anticipated. Usually Bill Pullman movies are hoaky or goofy and the acting is far from believable.

In this movie he plays a badass do anything to win lawyer soon to make federal judge character who’s gone and made a little mistake with the new secretary. Now he’s got to find a way to right his wrong so’s not to mess up his appointment.

He goes and hires some random hood to take care of his problem, little does he know his problems have only just begun.

$5 a Day

2008

Starring: Christopher Walken, Alessandro Nivola and Sharon Stone

This movie was not unlike Around the Bend in that it was a son hates father, father says he’s dying, let’s go on a really long roadtrip, for next to nothing, and get to know each other. This time they threw in a trampy Sharon Stone and a few other twists.

All in all it was a pretty good movie. Christopher Walken never fails to make me laugh. And that hair!

Space Cowboys

2000

Starring: Tommy Lee Jones, Clint Eastwood, Donald Sutherland, James Garner

This movie got a bad wrap by word of mouth and I’m not sure why. I liked it. Putting all these funny guys together?! Hilarious! A bunch of witty old farts into space on a mission only they can do. How awesome is that?!

Clint Eastwood and Tommy Lee are the best. I only wish I could have seen the bloopers, you know they had to be off the charts hilarious!

Anyway, if you haven’t seen it you should probably check it out. If you don’t like it, then you just don’t like it.
